Games and sports are an opportunity for children to mingle with other kids and get some exercise. Children should not be deprived of outdoor play and should instead be encouraged to participate. Games and sports provide a more fulfilled childhood especially for those whose passion lies in sports. A child should be encouraged to pursue a game or sport that he or she loves in order to develop their self-confidence.

Building Relationships

Games and sports can help a child establish friendships. Being in a team and being friends with their teammates makes him feel accepted, which can eliminate their insecurities. The child is able to appreciate the value of friendship and he eventually learns to develop relationships elsewhere. Having friends teaches a child to share, communicate and cooperate whenever they needs to. They also learn to understand how people are different from one another and adapt to these differences. Children who participate in games and sports are also able to effectively communicate with other people.

Leadership Skills

The leadership skills of a child are better harnessed if he or she is given the chance to participate in groups or teams. Participating in games and sports teaches children to follow rules from a leader. Because children learn by example, they learn how to lead their own teams and apply their skills inside the classroom and in other occasions where leadership is needed.

Self-Confidence

Team sports expose a child to many people and allow them to experience many things. Exposure to people increases a child’s self-confidence. They are able to use this newfound confidence in school and in dealing with other people.

Physical Fitness

Games and sports keep a child physically healthy while providing a form of recreation. This is especially true for those children who are part of teams that practice regularly. It becomes easier to maintain a regular exercise especially if the child meets their friends during practice. Coaches also encourage the children to maintain a healthy diet along with regular practices. Failure to maintain a healthy weight may result in elimination from the team, so children are motivated to do better and keep their bodies healthy.

Life Lessons

Studies show that games and sport help children keep a busy life, which prevents their involvement in drug addiction, sexual activities and alcoholism at a young age. Instead of engaging in these acts, children who participate in games and sport spend most of their time practicing, playing and hanging out with friends who have the same hobby.

Team sports teach a child that putting his best efforts is far more important than winning. At an early age, he is also taught how to respect other people-even their opponents. The child is then able to use these life lessons in the community, in the classroom and in other occasions.

Many people run into embarrassing situations when they sign up to help at afterschool programs. They show up ready to help kids out, and end up being paired up with special needs students. They feel unqualified for the situation. They have no idea what they should or should not do. Well, we will discuss some special needs activities, but the most important thing to realize is that these are still kids. They have the same interests as other kids, so you just have to figure out what they can and cannot do.

You do not need to wait for the teacher to come tell you what the kid likes to do. Ask them. Talking with the child is very important. They can tell you what they like to do. Chances are they are not going to tell you something they know they are not supposed to do. Still, there is always a chance that could happen. You should be ready to say no, but willing to do what they want. Remember, special needs activities are as fun as you make them.

Also, you can always look around and see what other people are doing. If you feel too unprepared, you could always ask if you could join in with other people’s games. That way you can get more comfortable with the situation. You can watch the kid you were assigned to and learn a little about them. This is a good method for first-timers.

At some point you probably should talk to the teacher. Ask them what some good activities should be. It is important that you form some sort of bond with the child independently of the teacher. You want the child to know that you care about them. Then, you can ask the teacher what kinds of special needs activities the kids are used to.

Be willing to try new things. You can ask the child to teach you some games. You do not have to be in charge of everything. Remember, this is no longer school time. It is time for these kids to have fun. Be an addition to their fun. Don’t be a drag. If you are having fun, then it will be more likely that the child is having fun. If you are all awkward and uncomfortable, then the child will probably be miserable.

You might be uncomfortable trying to figure out what the kid can and cannot do. You don’t want to ask them straight out because that be offensive. Still, you will want to figure out what they shouldn’t be doing. Special needs activities will vary according to the child. Some will want to be more physically active, while others might be more comfortable reading a book together.

I hope that this will help you be more comfortable during your first few times with special needs activities. Remember, it is all supposed to be fun. You will feel so much happier if the kid is having a good time. Strive for that, and everything else should fall together.

A lot of people think of summer as the time they have to get the kids outdoors and involved in some sports in order to be healthy and happy. The thing is, the need for this type of fitness for your child is just as great during the winter months.

A lot of people think of summer as the time they have to get the kids outdoors and involved in some sports in order to be healthy and happy. The thing is, the need for this type of fitness for your child is just as great during the winter months. The simple fact of the matter is that childhood obesity is something that is steadily on the rise. In some areas of the world, including the United States, this is a problem that is getting out of control.

As much as you want to think that your child’s school is giving him or her enough activities during the day to exercise, this is simply not going to cut it. Just as you would during the warmer months, you are going to have to make sure that you are doing your best to keep your kids active. If they are not doing it on their own, you are going to have to get involved, which is something you might want to be doing anyways.

One thing that you might want to try is playing outside in the snow. Even though it sounds like it is nothing more than a lot of fun, it is a lot of exercise, which is good for everyone in the family. Get out in the snow, build a snow fort and make sure you start a good snowball fight.

Sled riding is another great activity during the winter months where there is an ample amount of snow. Even though the sliding down the hill part does not take a lot of energy, walking back up that hill dragging the sled along is exercise.

If you do not get a lot of snow during the winter, simply hate the snow you do get or just want something a little different to do, you might want to see about finding an indoor basketball hoop somewhere. There are also various sports centers out there that will have an indoor soccer team that your children may be able to join.

What about those days where you simply want to stay at home?

It’s okay, maybe it is time to break out the video game system, specifically, the wii system. with the wii system, your family will be able to have a lot of home entertainment and your kids will be able to get some exercise in, even though it is disguised as sheer fun.

When you make sure that you are taking every opportunity to get your kids involved in some sort of wintertime fitness, you will be helping to make sure that they are not just healthy now, but that they grow into healthy adults with healthy fitness habits.

Children spend much more time indoors sitting in front of computers, playing in the virtual world, rather than discovering the wonders of the real one.

In an ideal world, children would be spending a lot of time outdoors playing, jumping, running, climbing and engaging in a great many other activities that would keep them physically fit, and enjoying their world on their own terms. Let’s face it, this is no longer an ideal world.

Children spend much more time indoors sitting in front of computers, playing in the virtual world, rather than discovering the wonders of the real one. In today’s world, child fitness activities often have to be scheduled into an already busy schedule.

Childhood obesity rates have reached epidemic status, and that does not bode will for the next generation. For parents who are worried about their child’s fitness, this article will provide some helpful tips about how you can improve the health and wellness of your precious offspring.

Turn off the TV and Computer and go outside with your children:

This tip is one of the most important things that you can do for your children. Do not allow them to spend hours on end in front of any kind of monitor of screen. Get them used to being outdoors from an early age so that they will not find the artificial world as fascinating as the real one. If you have a yard large enough to accommodate playground equipment, fill it with that and don’t forget to add a garden area where you can teach them to enjoy growing plants.

Take your children to the park regularly:

Children love to go places, especially to the park where they can play with other children. Be sure to take a Frisbee or other items with you that will encourage your kids to run and play. A picnic lunch on a Saturday is the ideal way to enjoy time with your little ones and help them be active.

Encourage your children to become involved in after school activities:

Extra curricular activities such as sports and exercise classes are a great way for your children to stay in shape, and help them develop in other areas as well. Team sports or other group activities help kids to learn how important it is to engage in teamwork and interact in social settings.

If you live close enough to school, walk your kids to school: Children who walk to and from school get the benefit of this form of exercise and so will you as you set an example for them. As they get older, and you feel that it is safe to do so, allow them to walk by themselves.

Sign your kids up for fitness classes:

Martial arts like karate and judo are great ways for your children to get plenty of exercise while at the same time providing them with good training in self control. Swimming lessons, dance classes, and a myriad of other activities can help your kids to get and stay fit. In fact, Mom and Dad can benefit from the exercise as well.

These are just some of the things that can be done to help your kids discover some amazing child fitness activities that are sure to stay with them for a lifetime.

How Does Adoption Influence A Child’s Development?

How adoption influences a child’s development can often depend on the age of the child and how the adoptive parents react to them in day-to-day situations. Often the parents of adopted children end up handling them carefully in an effort to help them feel welcome.

Other times, particularly with older children, they jump into discipline to quickly when an older child may need more time to adapt. Either way, adoption is a rewarding experience and with time and effort, an experience of a lifetime.

There are a few things to consider in regards to raising an adoptive child including the following:

Physical Effects:

Research has reported that there have been a number of parents that report that their adopted child, even of toddler age, presented odd physical traits like flailing of their arms and acting out their anger in a physical manner. Other data reported that some parents said the child wasn’t growing fast enough, believing that their growth was stunted.

In reality, these complaints typically have nothing to do with the children being adopted. It is quite common for children, especially toddlers, to act out their anger physically as they test their independent nature. In addition, all children, toddler age and up, go through growing spurts.

One thing to keep in mind that it’s fairly common for adoptive parents to worry more about an adoptive child and in their efforts to protect them, often make the child feel different and out of place. They will also worry that physical traits and actions are a sign of some genetic disorder but in most cases, this simply is not the case.

It is important that these parents treat their adoptive child as normal as possible. Spending quality time with your child, not worrying time will encourage the child’s growth as well as improve their motor skills, so try to ignore the negative feelings and remember that the things you are worrying about are normally not based on fact.

Spiritual Effects:

There are many different feelings a child will go through once he or she finds out they are adopted, and sometimes it can affect their spiritually. Developing a strong sense of spirituality through religion is often healthy for a child, and can instill a greater sense of morality, but the child might question their religious beliefs once they find out they are adopted. It is important to understand their feelings, and make sure that you don’t act any differently towards them than other children. Make them feel loved, and make sure they know they are a part of the family.

Mental Effects:

Mentally, adoption can be quite the hit to a child’s development. How the adopted child feels emotionally about being given up for adoption, and the adjustments they will face with their new family, can have a big impact on them mentally. ADD is common in children who are adopted, and if not an ADD related problem, adoptive parents may see signs of other learning disabilities.

They quite often may be more rebellious in nature after learning they are adopted, and it’s important to understand the sensitivity of the situation. Again, just make sure they know they are loved and help them adjust and get in touch with their feelings, encouraging them to learn and work past their insecurities.

Adopting a child is a rewarding experience, and while challenging at times will be worth the effort, filling your life, and theirs, with love.

It is true; there are a lot of foods that fight asthma, and they are easy to find and prepare. You can help control your child's breathing difficulties by adding these foods to their diet, and help their medications work more effectively.

Would you be surprised to learn that you can help your child fight asthma by going to the grocery store?

It is true; there are a lot of foods that fight asthma, and they are easy to find and prepare. You can help control your child’s breathing difficulties by adding these foods to their diet, and help their medications work more effectively.

Asthma causes inflammation in the lungs, so foods that combat inflammation are helpful in controlling symptoms. High on this list are foods that contain Omega 3 fatty acids; these foods include salmon and oily, deep-sea fish as well as flax seeds. Onions and scallions are rich in sulfur compounds; these compounds also decrease inflammation, so be sure to add these foods to your next meal and help your child fight asthma.

Asthmatics often have thick mucous in their lungs, and keeping that mucous thin and easy to move is important to overall lung functioning. Spicy foods like hot peppers and hot mustard can do just that; you know how your nose runs when you eat something spicy. That is because the food makes the mucous more watery and thin. It does the same to the mucous in your lungs, which in turn makes it easier to remove.

The steroids that asthma patients often must take to control their condition can deplete the body of B vitamins and magnesium. Eating foods that are high in those elements, like nuts and green, leafy vegetables such as kale and spinach can help keep your body functioning properly, and that includes your lung function.

Vitamin C is another workhorse that can help the asthmatic. Not only can it, too, help with inflammation, but it can help ward off respiratory infections that can aggravate asthma symptoms. You can, of course, take pills, but the foods that contain vitamin C are delicious, so why not enjoy getting your vitamins? Citrus fruits and juices, broccoli, and brussel sprouts all contain high levels of vitamin C, and can be wonderful additions to your dinner plate. You can also enjoy rose hip tea, which packs a powerful vitamin C punch.

Asthma fighting foods probably aren’t going to replace your chidren’s medication regimen, but they can help boost their body’s functioning and make the medications work more effectively and efficiently. The next time you’re at the grocery store, add some of above foods to your grocery cart. Try some new recipes that include them, and you’ll enjoy a double dose of “good” and “good for you and you family”.

Foods that fight asthma – delicious and effective!

Raising a child can be a learning experience for the parent as well as the child.

Raising a child can be a learning experience for the parent as well as the child. The various child stages are milestones to be achieved from being an infant to becoming a teenager. The stages are to be celebrated and enjoyed as they grow into successful young adults.

Child stages begin with preterm infants, which are when the baby was born earlier than expected and not around the forty week period which is for a term baby. Preterm infants, otherwise called “preemies” are smaller in size and require a longer stay in the hospital until they can successfully eat from a bottle, sleep without any breathing apparatuses and when they have reached a certain weight limit which is generally around five pounds. They many require certain additional help at home until they can feed and sleep as a full term baby would.

Next in child stages would be the infant stage, which is from around one month to almost two years old. During these months the child will grow immensely and learn to walk, crawl, feed themselves, sleep all night, speak and even begin potty training. These are the biggest years as far as development is concerned for the child that they will endure their entire lives. There seems to be a new change in their skills and progression each week until the child is two years old from walking to climbing and these months are the ones when you must watch the child at all times until they can safely move about the home without suffering from any injuries from falling.

The next years in child stages are the called the children stages. This is from the ages of two until they are eleven years old. These years are when the child will graduate to attend school, begin to play on team sports, begin to dress and care for themselves and not be as dependent on you the parents as they previously were. While the child is growing they may begin with attending preschool classes then progress to a kindergarten setting when they are five years old.

These years are generally not mandatory for a child to graduate, but it is encouraged to prepare them for a smooth transition into first grade and those to come so they are not so attached to you the parents. After the elementary school years the last in child stages is the adolescent one, which is from a twelve year old until an eighteen year old. This is the teen years that can be a tad tricky, but it is important to support your child and to allow them to become the people they want to be as adults.

Always have open communication with your children and be a good listener even when they are preschoolers, as when they want to tell you about their day and their lies they are doing so to engage with you. For information on child stages, you can do some research on the web for free to ensure your child is right where they should be.

It is important that you ensure that your baby is protected as much as possible and the numbers of things that can harm your baby are increasing every day.

It is important that you ensure that your baby is protected as much as possible and the numbers of things that can harm your baby are increasing every day. New chemicals are used to create and protect different products, and food is constantly being contaminated by any number of substances. Animals are given growth hormones, and the fertilizer used on many farms contains a number of chemicals that can cause damage to the human body if ingested. Food is becoming increasingly more processed, and many things that line the shelves of supermarkets are filled with preservatives, MSG, and additives that can harm your baby.

In order to safeguard your baby, you should try to use organic products as much as possible. Organic baby products can be anything from organically grown cotton to organic baby food. Protect your baby and give him or her as many organic baby products as possible.

What are organic products?

In order to be called organic, products have to follow a strict code and refrain from using chemicals, additives, preservatives, fertilizers, pesticides, and anything that is synthetic. The method of growing the products has to be completely natural in order to receive the certification that the products are truly organic. The most common organic baby products that you will find anywhere will be the massive varieties of organic baby food available in many supermarkets and health food stores.

These products have all been grown naturally and been created in as natural a way as possible in order to ensure there is nothing harmful in the food. The jars of organic baby food are some of the best kinds of food that you can feed your baby, and you can be sure that there will be nothing harmful for your baby in the contents of the organic baby food jars.

Many items of baby clothing are made from organic materials, such as organic wool, organic cotton, and other organic fibers. Many items of clothing normally sold on the shelf may not have been exposed to chemicals themselves, but the fertilizer used in the soil to promote the growth of the plants is often filled with harmful substances. In order to ensure that your baby is safe from any harm that these chemicals could cause, make sure to only purchase baby clothes made from organic fibers that are free of the chemicals.

Parents also have chosen to purchase toys that are made exclusively from natural materials, such as wood. Plastic can be dangerous for babies, and all babies that are teething need something to chew on. Organic wooden toys are safe from any chemicals, but plastic toys are entirely synthetic. In order to protect your baby and to be sure that the only things that go in his or her mouth are safe, purchase organic toys for your teething baby. Some wooden toys have a coating to keep them from splintering or being damaged with water, and this coating can be bad for your baby.

There are breast pumps and bottles that are made to organic standards, and there are many other organic baby products that you can use to help safeguard your baby in this increasingly synthetic environment we live in.

The time will eventually roll around when maternity leave is up, and the dread of returning to work has become a reality. At this time, parents may have already been prepared for the designated care of their baby either in the hands of a responsible relative or sitter service. Parents may have already arranged for a nanny service, or a babysitting service, to send a nanny to take care of the baby in their home.

A nanny is an excellent choice for a caregiver, as they are exceptionally adept and experienced in childcare. The parents will of course have thoroughly researched and picked the best nanny service available, for their needs and their baby’s needs.

A nanny that has exceptional credentials in the well-borne department should have already been specifically asked for when the nanny service was contacted. The nannies that have years of experiences in caring for newborns have accredited CPR and first aid training certification. These certifications are listed in their applications.

The nanny will have taken child development training courses. Past contract terms, that stipulate their former employment as a caregiver to a newborn, will also be listed. The nanny service has already preformed the necessary background check of the nannies that they employ through their services. These checks include criminal background check, sexual predator checks, identity checks, social security checks and driving history and vehicle checks.

The nannies will have already undergone extensive interviews with the nanny service on multiple occasions. Screening is done with the utmost scrutiny, when it comes to childcare services offered by a nanny service. Nannies are also required to show medical proof of negative tests for HIV, have shots current for hepatitis A, B and C. They are required to have a TB shot updated, and require physical exams, to determine further health for working with the service.

The nanny should be chosen by the parents based on if they need a part-time nanny or a full-time nanny. Part-time nannies work no more than just a few hours a day, less than five to be exact. Their work week comes just in under twenty-four hours for working with a family. This is typically because they may have employment elsewhere, or work part-time so they can be home for their own families.

Part-time nannies have higher salaries than full-time nannies because they work, and are paid, on an hourly basis. Full-time nannies may be the better choice for the parents who are looking for longer sitting services, at lesser pay. Full-time nannies are paid weekly, and their benefits include health insurance and paid time off.

There are two kinds of full-time nannies. There are full-time live-in nannies and full-time live-out nannies. The live-in nannies stay in the home on a constant schedule, and they are less expensive, because they do not incur living expenses. Live-out nannies are paid a tad more because they do have to travel daily to and from the family home. The parents will have a chance to meet and interview the nanny to help decide on the perfect nanny for their newborn.

Bringing home a newborn will often make parents realize that with all the preparations made, none has really prepared them for a colicky baby. In the following weeks their sleeping angel has bouts with crying late in the evening, with episodes that last for hours on end. Sleepless nights turn into cranky days and the baby, along with the parents, need to find some relief. The symptoms of a colicky baby are shown through signs of distress, which are seen by the jerking of the legs and arms.

This usually follows the stretching out of the limbs and clenching of the fists. Crying and fussing for more than three hours on end, with no relief given when picked up, are definite signs of a colicky baby. When the baby is neither hungry nor wet, and is still exercising their lungs, many new parents are left wondering just what they are doing wrong.

Colic is a common symptom in babies. If a new mother is breast-feeding, she may inadvertently be giving her baby colic through the foods that she is eating. There are several foods that a new mother should avoid eating when breastfeeding. The foods that most often give a newborn colic, if they are drinking breast milk, are caffeinated drinks, dairy products, leafy greens like cabbage and spinach, and broccoli and beans.

The sugar-break down in foods is what causes the colicky symptoms in a baby. Gases start to produce in the stomach extending the abdominal wall, which causes a great deal of discomfort for the baby. When breastfeeding, a mother may want to avoid drinking high sugar content juices. Parents should not give their small babies fruit juices that have sugar content in them. Water is a great source of hydration for a baby, especially a colicky baby.

Parents, who are feeding their baby a formula instead of breastfeeding, may want to try formulas that are low-allergy, or try a soy-based formula. It is recommended that each formula be given at least a week’s trial. It will typically take a week for the parents to see a difference in the formula. Often time, changing the formula may cause a few spitting up episodes.

Adjusting for this may take awhile. Parents should be cautioned as to not mix formulas, and make sure they are measured and served by the directions given by the supplier. Eventually, if the formula was the cause for a colicky baby, the colic will fade, and the baby will start to become less fussy and sleep better at night.

Parents may also want to check the flow of the nipples they are using to feed their baby the formula. Nipples on bottles that are being use should not have a very big opening. The amount of suckling that it takes to dispel the milk gives the baby comfort. If the formula is dispersed from the bottle too quickly, this can cause the baby to swallow air bubbles with the formula. Air bubbles will greatly contribute to the colic symptoms in a baby.
